I see some kids who are really young on here who seem desperate for friendship. Which breaks my heart a little. It seems like the experience of the young and the unique is still challenging. It's still hard to make friends in the real world if you're different - 2SLGBTQ, BIPOC, quiet/shy/introverted, weird or interested in unique hobbies...etc.I want to say that if you are young and you are reading this and you feel like you have no friends, that's not the future too. It might be your present, but it almost 100% of the time will change as you go through life. You might find your social circle in a decade, a year, a month, a day! I have gone through periods of time where I've had a plethora of friends, and periods where I'm essentially alone. These periods go by and things change. Remember, change is the only constant thing in life. So keep you heart awake, love yourself, remember you are AWESOME, and never call it quits- because the future is full of bright possibilities.Just some advice from an old lady to you.

Today I read an article about how Inuit parenting is exceptionally successful at teaching children to regulate their emotions.I really think that the traditional Iniut method sounds beautiful. They teach through storytelling. They don't outsource storytelling to screens. They are calm with their children and don't teach discipline through yelling. According to the article the parents do not yell at their children or punish them for mistakes or for acting out. They impart lessons by engaging their minds and by exciting their imaginations, again through storytelling. What happens is the children in the Inuit culture grow up to emulate this and have wonderful emotional regulation skills.This was an NPR article and honestly I thought it was really inspiring. I'd love to hear about parenting methods from all over the world!When I'm a mom I'm going to try to emulate this method. I think teaching children to control their anger by showing them that an adult can control their anger sounds lovely and I do think yelling is uncalled for, especially with children.

"i once knew someone like you" your mom yells while you storm up the stairs. shes obviously refering to your peice of sh*t father. you hate that she would ever comapre you to him but deep down you know its true. you're just like him. short tempered, insistent, defensive. all the peices of the puzzle are there. but when are you finally gonna put them together and realize that you're just like him.
